Welcome to the New Essay Blog Location For Straight Talk Public Relations
Silvrback Chosen As New Blogging Platform for Longform Posts By Douglass Taft Davidoff of Straight Talk PR | The Content Wordshop
This is a big change for my blogging.
Since 2004, I've used Typepad as my primary blogging platform. But Typepad hasn't changed with the times, especially with respect to being mobile friendly for content creation or content viewing.
So, in connection with a total overhaul of the web presence for Straight Talk Public Relations | The Content Wordshop, I've selected Silvrback as the new platform for long-form posts. For short-form posts, I'm now using three Tumblr microblogs for our short-form posts. They match up with Twitter feeds.
So here’s the rundown on where to find things.
WEBSITE
The consultancy’s main website is: www.StraightTalkPR.com.
The website is created and managed using a Mac OSX website authoring tool called Everweb, made by some very fine folks at Rage Software in Thornhill | Vaughn, Ontario, Canada, a suburb of Toronto. (Everweb is no relation to the similarly named — and wonderful — Evernote.)
SHORT-POST BLOGS and TWEETS
Three microblogs accounts are maintained on Tumblr for each of our favorite blogging topics:
Straight Talk PR on Tumblr is where we blog about the p.r. business, our p.r. technology, and changes in the news media and social media. Doug Davidoff, Straight Talk’s principal consultant, also tweets these topics @DougSTPR on Twitter. You can also see this material on Facebook.
The Content Wordshop on Tumblr is where we talk about content itself: how it’s crafted, how it’s used, how it is effective or ineffective. Doug Davidoff also tweets about content @ContentWordshop on Twitter. You can also see this material on Facebook.
NIMBY Monitor on Tumblr is where we talk about community relations, especially for the toughest projects and proposals. These are the proposals that bring out the NIMBYs, also known as the “Not In My Back Yard” people. In worse cases, proposals run into opposition from BANANAs — people who advocate “Build Absolutely Nothing Anywhere Near Anyone” — and CAVEs, the “Citizens Against Virtually Everything.” At NIMBY Monitor, we aggressively maintain that locating important public works, especially in the face of climate change, the shift away from fossil fuels, the necessity for homeland security, as well as our longtime focus on affordable housing, necessitate careful communications in an open and honest style with affected people and geographic communities. Doug Davidoff tweets about NIMBY cases @NIMBYmonitor on Twitter. You can also see this material on Facebook.
LONG-FORM BLOG POSTS | ESSAYS
Principal Consultant Doug Davidoff now publishes long-form blog posts on all the above topics using this new blog on the Silvrback platform. The URL for this blog is http://stpr.silvrback.com.
